Call for Proposals: Local Arts Organizations

Opportunity

 

[email protected], a partnership between the Airport Foundation MSP and the Metropolitan Airports Commission, is seeking non-profit organizations/galleries/museums that promote arts in the region (“Arts Organizations”) to curate exhibitions in the Concourse Display Cases spaces throughout Terminals 1 – Lindbergh and 2-Humphrey at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). 

More than 36 million people travel through MSP every year, garnering the selected Arts Organizations and galleries an unprecedented opportunity to share their own exhibitions and artists with an ever-changing international audience.

The curated display cases fulfill the mission of [email protected]: To enhance MSP Airport’s image; create community relationships; enrich the public’s experience; and promote a sense of place through arts and culture. 

Project Description

This solicitation is open to non-profit organizations/galleries/museums that promote arts in the region and galleries (“Arts Organizations”).  The selected Arts Organization will create a theme and total of one to four display designs for the Concourse Display Cases that complement the adjacent women’s and men’s restroom design.  One set of designs will be selected and installed for a year in one of nine display cases, as determined by [email protected], adjacent to the newly refurbished restrooms at T-1 and T-2.  Dimensions and location of the eight Concourse Display Cases currently being made available are:

C1: 5’4” W x 5’9.5” H x 1’ D

C4: 10’8” W x 5’10” H x 1’ D

E3: 13’4” W x 5’9/5” H x .375’ D

E8: 11’8” W x 5’9.5” H x 1’ D (with speakers)

F9: 11’8” W x 5’9.5” H x 1’ D (with speakers)

South Main Mall 10’8” W x 5’10” H x 1’ D

North Main Mall 5’4” W x 5’10” H x 1’ D (with speakers)

Terminal 2, H10:  15’6” W x 5’6” H x 1’5” D

The current RFP is for display case exhibitions at Terminal 2 and Terminal 1, cases E3 and the North Main Mall.  Only one case per organization.  

Requirements

  • Experience with public art installations
  • Exhibits may be historic, scientific, educational, aviation-related, or artistic;
  • Materials are suggested but not limited to: painting, textiles, photography, video
  • Must be able to install the designs by March 30, 2018
  • Preferred but not limited to Minnesota arts non-profit organizations
