ccepting submissions through March 1, 2018. The goal of this contest is to encourage poets to use their craft as a tool for social change. This is a platform for the discovery and celebration of poets. 
 
Poetry Theme:
Please pick a topic that relates to your life, yet connects with a larger community, the nation or the world. What deeply matters to you? Themes can include, but are not limited to:

Activism

Civic Engagement 

Community

Disability 

Education 

Ethnicity/Heritage/Race

Government/Politics

Historical Icons or Themes

Illness (Physical or Mental)

Injustice 

Societal Concerns

Other topics at our discretion
 

Eligibility: 
Applicants must:

Be a United States citizen or a permanent legal resident 

Be 18 years of age or older

NOT be a staff member or a board member of IACA (relatives of such are also disqualified from applying)

 
Prizes Include: 

1st Place ~ $300.00

2nd Place ~ $200.00

Both the 1st and 2nd place winner will have their work published on our website for National Poetry Month April 2018. 

 
Reading Fee: 
We require a non-refundable reading fee of $20.00 payable by credit card. This helps make the review of your work possible. 
 
Deadline Date:  
The deadline for submissions is 11:59pm CST on Thursday, March 1, 2018. We encourage you to submit before the deadline, so that we may assist you if you encounter any issues. Winners will be announced the 3rd week in March 2018.
