Lighthouse Works is seeking applications from artists and writers for Sessions 39, 40 and 41 of our Fellowship Program. Fellowships are six-weeks in length and provide room, board, studio space and $1,750 in stipends.
Session 39 March 17 to April 28, 2020
Session 40 May 12 to June 23, 2020
Session 41 July 7 to August 18, 2020
While in residence, our fellows’ primary obligation is to the solitary pursuit of their work but we do ask every fellow to participate in an artist talk on the first weekend of the fellowship and to open their studio for an afternoon at the session’s conclusion.
Each fellow has a private bedroom and shares bathrooms, the kitchen and living space at our residence. The house is always stocked with food (with dietary needs accommodated), and most nights the directors cook for—and eat dinner with—the fellows. Our studios are located adjacent to Silver Eel Cove where our ferry arrives and departs the island. The studios are private, flooded with light and face the ocean. Additionally, Lighthouse Works maintains a wood and metal shop, a Paragon kiln and a black and white darkroom. All of which are available to our fellows.
Artists at any stage of their career are encouraged to apply through our online application system. Applicants are required to fill out an application form, submit work samples and attach a CV.
Applicants to the program are strongly encouraged to visit our website for further information about the application. While our staff reviews applications for completeness, a jury of experts in each artist’s field identifies the finalists. Finalists will be invited for phone interviews, and all applicants will be informed of the committee’s decision by the notification date for the relevant application period. Artistic excellence is the primary criterion for acceptance into the Fellowship Program.
