Rethinking Public Spaces at the Soap Factory

In 2017, The Soap Factory will be undergoing some much needed renovation in order to further our mission to serve artists and engage local audiences in innovative ways. During The Soap Factory’s renovation period we are endeavoring to sponsor several projects that take place on the Soap Factory’s exterior and property during construction. The Soap Factory is specifically looking for projects that will activate the building and public space.

Proposals for projects can be in any medium and can range in duration from a one time performance to a several month outdoor installation. Keep in mind that this is a call for projects or pieces that will take place outdoors. We do not provide insurance coverage for work exhibited at The Soap Factory. All work is shown at the artist's own risk.

Possible projects could involve posters or banners hung from building or on construction fence, projections on buildings, performance or live event on TSF property, temporary installation on construction fence or on TSF property. Proposals should consider and explain the significance of the work being installed on/or around the Soap Factory.

In addition to staff, installation support, and documentation support; The Soap Factory will provide four projects with a stipend of $5,000. Individual and group artist proposals are accepted.

Projects will be presented at The Soap Factory between March 20 - Dec 31, 2017, to be detemined based on accepted proposals. *If your project cannot take place or be installed during a certain season or specific timeframe, please make note in your proposal.

Accepted proposals will be notified and scheduled by March 17, 2017 following the close of the submission deadline.
