In 2017, The Soap Factory will be undergoing some much needed renovation in order to further our mission to serve artists and engage local audiences in innovative ways.
During construction we are looking to sponsor several projects within Minnesota that utilize public spaces that challenge the idea of traditional galleries and redefine public space in the way that the founders of the Soap Factory did when they moved into the building.
While projects can range in theme and concept, The Soap Factory is specifically looking for projects that deal with creating community engagement in public spaces, re-think public spaces, and/or utilize spaces that often neglected or taken for granted.
In addition to staff, installation support, and documentation support; The Soap Factory will provide five projects with a stipend of $5,000 and two projects with a stipend of $10,000. Individual and group artist proposals are accepted.
Projects will be presented by The Soap Factory between June 01 - Dec 31, 2017, to be detemined based on accepted proposals. *If your project cannot take place or be installed during a certain season or specific timeframe, please make note in your proposal.
Accepted proposals will be notified and scheduled by April 10th, 2017 following the close of the submission deadline.
