Sculpture Garden Technician Position

Opportunity

The Walker Art Center is seeking a seasonal Sculpture Garden Technician. This is a great opportunity to learn about the care of great sculptures in Minnesota’s iconic Minneapolis Sculpture Garden while enjoying  the spring and summer air!

RESPONSIBILITIES will include: Assisting in the maintenance of the sculptural art works (and surrounding grounds) in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and the Walker Art Center’s Hillside and Terraces-- including cleaning of sculptures and other tasks as assigned.  

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

This is a temporary, non-exempt full-time (35 hours/week) position from May through September

Compensation is $17-20 per hour, depending on experience

One-year Walker membership, museum discounts, and the opportunity to work alongside talented individuals and support remarkable artists, events and programming.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Reliable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual with basic knowledge of sculptural materials and archival procedures preferred.  Carpentry skills are a plus. Interest in contemporary sculpture always helps! The ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, climb ladders, operate a variety of machinery and tools, as well as work independently are required.
