CALL FOR ARTISTS
COMPAS is looking for new artists to add to our Artist Roster, for work beginning in July 2016.
COMPAS has been putting creativity into the hands of Minnesotans for over 40 years. We’re not just a non-profit arts organization; we’re a non-profit education organization that teaches through art. Our professional artists work alongside students, teachers, senior citizens, hospital patients, teens, and just about any other community member to spark their imaginations and infuse their lives with creativity.
COMPAS Teaching Artists connect with community members through performances, workshops, residencies and professional development. Programs take place throughout the state during school hours, after school, during the evening and on weekends. Locations include schools, libraries, senior care centers, events, youth programs and other community sites.
Teaching artists are paid competitively. Payment for Workshops and Residencies is $70/hour and up. Performance fees are set by artist.
We are particularly interested in artists who teach art forms or represent cultures or communities that are not our current roster.
In order to represent the communities we engage with, we are especially interested in artists who represent various Minnesota communities such as American Indians/Native Americans, Hmong & SE Asian groups, Somali & East African groups and Chicano or Latino/Latina individuals.
Some of the art forms we are interested in adding include:
- Manga or anime
- Web/Video/Graphic design
- Hip Hop elements
- Spoken word
- Music production
- Jewelry making
- Public art
- Mosaic
