We're an awesome group of hardworking creatives and makers here at Mercury Mosaics. We manufacture the most amazing handmade tile in the world, from scratch. We work hard and like to have fun and a drama-free environment and so we only hire good people.
We're a part of the Northeast Arts District and like to set a good example by showing how organized and successful artists can be. We celebrate birthdays with potlucks, support each other's artistic and personal goals and some of us bring our dogs with us to work. We really like having dogs around!
Main Duties: Tilemaking- Loading 25lb blocks of clay, extruding fresh clay and making precision measurements and cuts to create a variety of tile shapes and prepare them for firing in the kilns.
Other Duties: Glazing tile by hand with brushes, loading/unloading kilns, inspecting tile for quality and counting tiles to ensure the orders are complete, as well as packaging and labeling tile orders to prepare them for shipping. You must be willing to lend a hand in all areas and with general duties in our manufacturing area. These duties may include: gluing tiles onto mesh into patterns, cleaning, organizing and other tasks which support the whole process of creating beautiful handmade ceramic tile.
No previous experience required, we will train you.
You must be organized, literate, friendly and able to do basic math.
Detail-orientated and able to follow directions is a must!
Application process will include various math and IQ tests plus a personnel potential analysis survey.
This position involves A LOT of heavy lifting, bending, warm working environment at times and the applicant must be physically able to handle this and be on their feet all day. You must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must love dogs.
