  • Marilyn M. Cuellar updated the Artwork African Woman
From our visit to Africa to visit our daughter in her Peace Corps village. This woman, dressed in her finery, is compelling in her "don't meddle with me" posture and attitude.
  • While visiting our daughter in her Peace Corps village (Daru, The Gambia, West Africa), a group of young people posed for a photograph while watering the school's vegetable garden. This young girl, Adama, reveals her character from the raised eyebrow down to the half smile.
  • How old? Two candles on the cake, and lips pursed to blow them out. The flyaway hair strand enlivens the drawing and pulls the viewer into this universal birthday celebration.

  • Torcello is the oldest inhabited island off of Venice. Its ancient, large church almost creaks and groans with the movement of the waves. Taken from a fresco on its wall, the four angels are each distinctive in their character as delicately depicted in their unique faces.

  • My husband and I observed a city of bikes in Mantau, Italy. This piece is a conversational moment in time between a mature, elegant woman and her younger counterpart. Details of each subject increase as the viewer's eyes move from left to right. The delicate, park like background gives an ethereal beauty to the scene. Traveling Conversation is a companion piece to Never Too Young...Not Too Old, although each can stand on its own.
