Ed Erdmann is an artist working out of Wisconsin. His work investigates landscape painting along with the materials, forces, and changes that make the land what it is.
I consider large human forces that are common in life. My work investigates time, death, and the quietness that shadows both. Seasons make us change what we wear. We begin planning gardens, in anticipation for spring. We till the earth. We harvest for the coming winter. Seasons dictate our actions and patterns. I see the land and water and fauna that we depend on and bring them into my practice. The soil underneath our feet is marking our time in prose on the pages of geological time. Soil feeds us through growth of vegetation. Soil will cover us when we die.
