Banner artwork: A War In Twenty Words or Less by Daniel Buettner, acrylic on canvas, 2008. (Image cropped and reprinted with artist's permission)

I love you, now eatAbout the artist: Daniel Buettner is a 32-year-old artist and educator living in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife and three-year-old son. He teaches elementary school art and has been exhibiting his own artwork for twelve years. He has always been interested in simple images that are easily understood.

Starting in 2004, he began creating paintings that were meant to be exhibited along with works of writing. The resulting efforts became two children’s stories and a young adult novel, which all continue to be shown in galleries and art centers around Minneapolis. Buettner's recent work employs photorealistic painting techniques and seemingly random compositions to create the illusion that his paintings are actually collages. Buettner has been a member of the Minneapolis artist collective Rosalux Gallery for the past seven years.
