About this series of photos, Nic Marshall says: "This photo series is based off the concept of double identity. The framing of each shot depicts a juxtaposition between what the audience sees versus what is actually happening, much like how we as people decide what parts of us we show to others and what parts we conceal. And by the same token, the relativity of the perspective of the viewer shows that there's no such thing as a completely subjective nor objective perspective when the object is mediated through the camera."

About all of the summer 2008 MNfashion FLASH winners, series coodinator Anna Lee observes: "This quarter, we had judges from all across the country, with ties to Minnesota, reviewing the images. According to our judges, 'When creating high fashion images that are commercially viable, the focus should be the garments. The point of most advertising in the fashion industry is to sell the clothing, so the first thing the viewer should gravitate to in an image is the garment.' The winning photos do just that, but they also tell a story--a story that takes a full team to put together. What I have seen over the last two series is that the judges are drawn to a strong statement, brought together by a high level of artistry and technique for an overall solid presentation."
