Baron of Beige

About the artist: Terrence Payne has lived and worked in the Minneapolis area for the past fourteen years, building a body of unique and thought provoking work while exhibiting at galleries and universities throughout the Midwest. He creates pastel drawings and silk screen prints "out of a desire to glean the earnest beauty which results from the clumsy actions of humanity in everyday life. He takes the good days and the bad which accumulate to the sum of our character and presents them to his viewer with an appreciation which makes it easier to understand our own lives through the experiences of others."

Payne's work can be found in private, corporate, and collegiate collections nationally and internationally. Terrence founded Roslaux Gallery four years ago to give local emerging and mid career artists an opportunity to exhibit their work in an environment that would bring them high visibility while nurturing their artistic callings without the limitations imposed by many commercial galleries. Serving as gallery director since its inception, he has helped over forty local artists further their art careers through their involvement with Rosalux. You can see an extensive portfolio of his work on mnartists.org/terrance_payne or by visiting his website.

About the new project, Nest: Minneapolis artists Amy Rice and Terrence Payne, in collaboration with Sotheby's real estate group, will soon open a joint exhibition, Nest, for which the artists will translate the imagery and patterns from their 2D works and render them into the physical world by applying them to textiles, furniture and Sofa for Nest with Payne motifother home furnishings in a conventional living environment provided by Sotheby's, the Alcoa House in St. Louis Park, MN.
