CALL FOR ART: Minnesota State Arts Board & Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs are taking submissions of work for the 8th annual Art of Recovery: Minnesotans who have been crime victims or survivors of crime – and have expressed their crime victim experience or recovery through an artistic medium – are invited to submit art or literary work for inclusion

A Question of Identity

Minnesota Dance Theatre's fall concert, Rumblings, which they first premiered in 2005, was on stage at the Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts in Minneapolis September 30 - October 2, October 7 - October 9.
On a related note: You should also read dancer and critic Linda Shapiro’s review of Ragamala Dance's ambitious new bharatanatyam work, Sacred Earth, which had its world premiere recently at the new Cowles Center and, from there, will go on to tour the country.

Cary Waterman will read from her new book of poems, Book of Fire on Tuesday, October 18 at the University Club, and then again on December 7 at the Hamline Public Library in St. Paul. Professional resources, fundraising and grant support programs for artists
If you’re an artist in any discipline looking for a job, opportunities, grants and professional development, there’s a presentation coming up at Midway Contemporary Art you should make plans to attend: Eleanor Whitney, Program Officer for External Affairs and Fiscal Sponsorship from Artspire, a program of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), will present on their resources, fundraising and support programs available nationwide for artists at every stage in their careers. Visual, performing, literary artists, musicians and filmmakers as well as those working in small/emerging arts organizations are all encouraged to attend.
This free presentation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 7 pm at Midway Contemporary Art; there will be time set aside for Q&A and audience follow-up with participants after the talk.
