A unique concert event celebrating the release of Siems' much-anticipated CD,
Empire at Twilight,
All Nora's Daughters Can Fly features extraordinary fusions of music, dance and theater. Works to be performed will include a new, theatrical version of the CD's title track, and a re-staging of "Waiting for Yesterday," Siems' critically acclaimed collaboration with dancer-choreographer Jennifer Mack. Premieres will include: "Oneness," an all-new fusion of contemporary ballet with Siems' breathtaking four-hands cello duet, "Threshold," created in collaboration with choreographer Lindsay Anderson (pictured); "All Nora's Daughters," a meditative work expressing the hope of a future in which women rise to power; and an all-new collaboration with Jennifer Mack, exploring the hidden legacy of women that have been written out of the history books.
Drawing inspiration from the character of Nora from Ibsen's A Doll's House, Siems and his collaborators have created a program that celebrates trailblazing women of history, including maverick pilot Beryl Markham and other great female aviators. In their legacy lies the hope for a bright tomorrow when the empires of today fade away into night.
As a bonus, this concert is two shows for the price of one!! The second half of the program will be a brilliant new work by choreographer-director
Vanessa Voskuil, titled
The Silents. With her usual stunning imagery, Vanessa will present an extraordinary fusion of dance, theater, and live music (featuring Nick Lemme of Spaghetti Western) as she explores meaning in a universe where life is the exception, and death the rule.
