April 26th -Sunday May 11th
Opening Saturday May 3rd 2008 7-10pm

I paint and write to develop a portrait of spirit and humanity.
My paintings are a reflection of human nature and I want them to express the emotions and feelings of this world and the people that inhabit it.
I set out to display my own emotions as best I can in my art, and knowing that I can speak for no one but myself. I paint mostly in a subconscious state, which allows my ideas, images, and feelings to flow easily, making the work’s beauty come from nature and from deep within myself.

I like using darker and more muted color palates in my paintings, which are soothing and atmospheric. Mixing organic and industrial styles with all kinds of materials, in an unrefined manner, help me to build my modern day mythology on the canvas. I layer both paint and ideas to give the paintings greater visual and literary depth. The layering of ideas allows me to reveal the deepest human instincts, such as violence, lust, fear and the yearning for a higher being in my paintings.

I draw heavily on the inspiration from literature, especially from authors such as Nerval, Celine, Rand, Lautremont, Baudelaire, De Sade, Masoch, Rimbaud, Genet, Burroughs, Miller, Ginsberg, Kerouac, and O’Neill.
