Mad King Thomas is putting on a show in the hopes that somewhere in the wilderness of imagination, you'll find an evening of funny, dark, strange dances that may help you deal with impending global or personal crises. In their newest performance, Love Me, Love My Questionable Art, local performance trio Mad King Thomas rejects business as usual and abandons their usual cast (themselves) in favor of new people, new methods, new beautiful disasters waiting to happen. MKT is forging savage and energetic new work for local dance stars: Sally Rousse (James Sewell Ballet), Galen Treuer (Live Action Set and ARENA Dances), and Kristin Van Loon and Arwen Wilder (HIJACK). Love Me, Love My Questionable Art is untested, untried, but true.

Sally Rousse faces off with a dump truck in a dance of fabricated memories. Bid for a doughnut as Galen Treuer dances in a pool of mud and sparkles. HIJACK imitates drunk giraffes and investigates the edges of the universe with the cells of their bodies. Tara King, Theresa Madaus and Monica Thomas, the members of Mad King Thomas, make their first solo appearances in a triptych of dances about philosophy and family.

Mad King Thomas believes you've got the answers, so they keep asking the questions.

Minneapolis-based performance trio Mad King Thomas creates performance works or “dances” that mix choreography, theater, prop handling, dress-up, humor, and video. Their ability to tackle culturally relevant material in comedic, irreverent, unexpected and surreal ways is the hallmark of Mad King Thomas' social commentary.
