Please join writers Steve Marsh, Marya Hornbacher, Paul Dickinson and others to celebrate Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. It is the 25th anniversary of Robert M. Pirsig's book, which the London Guardian has called the most widely read book on philosophy ever printed. Also the most rejected -120 times -it holds the Guniness World Record. Combining a discourse on the metaphysics of quality, an examination of America's mainstream/counterculture split and a "real" haunting of personal madness the book opened a watershed of revelations about the lay of our land. Much of ZMM was written in the Roberts Shoes building, just downstairs from the Smuda studio when Pirsig was under contract to Honeywell as a technical writer. In addition to our roster of writers, You are invited to read any favorite passages from, or works inspired by ZMM. A film "On the Road with Robert Pirsig" will also be shown, which incorporates his own home movies and interviews with significant characters from the book.
