Join us for what promises to be a fascinating series of conversations and actionsaround the idea of agonism-or the space between antagonism and consensus-kicking off on Thursday night with a conversation on art, design, and agonistic democracy with artist Krzysztof Wodiczko and philosopher-theorist John Rajchman.

If you're wondering "what IS agonism?," come Friday morning as designer Carl DiSalvo (and Open Field Artist-in-Residence), artist/educator Marisa Jahn, media theorist Warren Sack, and architect Mark Shepard, unpack the term. Par tconversation, part performance, this won't be your typical panel. The session will include choreographed lighting and movement on stage (based onchoreography of Balanchine's ballet of Agon), an interrogatory analog tweet
choir who will transform your 140 character comment into a song lyric, and agame of Bingo to track the number of times speakers use words like 'dissensus.'

To learn about agonism in the Twin Cities, come to the pecha kucha on Friday afternoon for rapid-fire presentations on a range of research and radical practice. Subjects will range from Occupy Wall Street, to how the architecture of an apartment speaks to feminism.

Friday night, sing out! Join us for Karaoke Discourse at the Third Place, where their fabulous Karaoke Jockey, Steph Pituc, is busy compiling a list of agonistic songs ranging from tunes by Woody Guthrie to Rage Against the Machine. http://www.wingyounghuie.com/events

Finally, if you'd like to dig in, sign up for a workshop. Friday, over lunch, play with furniture, sketch new spaces, and think hard about how to design for democracy. On Saturday, participate in a writing workshop that will manifest in song, or a design workshop imagining
interventions on Hennepin Avenue, using pen, laptop, and a 40' model of theavenue.
