“In Line” by Mary Foote, a Touchy-Feely Exhibit

Get a feel for pre-abstract paintings -- literally. “In Line” is Mary Foote's examination of color, texture, line, and layering as a tactile experience. "I encourage people to touch my paintings," says Foote. "I was always disappointed when I couldn't touch paintings in museums." Foote is interested in how the feel can further a viewer’s experience of understanding a piece of art. Her bold, dense canvases invite the eye first, and tempt the fingers to explore. “In Line” is Foote's first solo exhibition through Altered Esthetics’ solo exhibition program.
