Not Quite Sky explores the dynamic between the earth and the sky, the significance placed upon them, and how subtle changes in perspective can alter our perception of their meanings. In her work, Childress explores the relationships between the seen and the unseen, the dream and the reality, the remembered and the forgotten. She investigates the landscape and how it relates human relationships, memory, and personal spirituality. Inspired by the cloud formations while flying from her native Indiana to her cu
rrent homestate of Minnesota, and interpreted through the study of color and light, these paintings present the landscape as being not quite earth and not quite sky.
Childress's work has been shown at several venues across the country, including Ghost Gallery in Seattle, WA, and the Art-House Co-Op in Brooklyn, NY. She is currently pursuing a BFA at the University of Minnesota.
