, an exhibition of new sculptural forms by Josh Johnson, refers more to a condition than a narrative. While utilizing materials for their inherent qualities, Johnson’s forms are simultaneously familiar and alien, striking a psychological tone somewhere between whimsy and quiet unease.
Johnson received his B.F.A. from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, with a concentration in sculpture and a minor in history. Johnson continued his art education, studying sculpture for a year at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion before entering graduate school at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he earned his M.F.A. Johnson teaches part-time at Concordia University-St. Paul and the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, MN. He currently resides and has a studio practice in Minneapolis, MN.
