Richard Barlow’s site-specific wall drawing is a continuation of his “Welcome to the Open” series. These drawings sit at the uncomfortable intersection of beauty, desire, commerce, and the environment. The over 500 square foot drawing for this exhibition is based on the romantic landscape imagery in SUV advertisements.

Barlow holds a Master of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting, with an Art History minor, from the University of Minnesota. He received his B.F.A. in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has shown his work both locally and nationally. He is a recipient of the 2012 Jerome Foundation Emerging Artist Fellowship.
