Book Launch: Bedtime Stories: Sculptures Reimagined

Discussion: Artist Rebecca Krinke and arts journalist Camille LeFevre

With Concurrent Exhibition: Limited-edition prints from Bedtime Stories: Sculptures Reimagined on view at Rosalux Gallery during gallery hours (Sat&Sun 12-4PM) during the month of September.

Artist and University of Minnesota professor Rebecca Krinke has transformed her “Bedtime” series of bed sculptures (seen at Rosalux Gallery and at Northern Spark Festival) into a new book, Bedtime Stories: Sculptures Reimagined. Krinke and arts journalist Camille LeFevre, who contributed an essay to Bedtime Stories, host a book launch and exhibition (with limited-editionprints from on Bedtime Stories) on Thursday, September 19, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Rosalux Gallery in Minneapolis. A short discussion about the book begins at 6:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

In her essay in Bedtime Stories, LeFevre writes: “Krinke makes special her beds, as meme and art installation, yet again, transporting them to another realm of the imagination: the book. In these pages, the bed is elevated to a character, protean in its details and materiality as it floats, hangs, or burns in the most unlikely places: industrial, natural, cultural. In these Bedtime Stories, no victims or villains, princesses or princes exist. Krinke has become both fabulist and fabricator, writer and rescuer, progenitor and protagonist of her own story as an artist and woman. Now it’s your turn to dream.”
