This 67th Annual event returns to Hyde Park June 7+8, 2014 with over 200 artists, live music, local food vendors and interactive artist exhibits

CHICAGO, IL (MARCH, 2014) – The 57th Street Art Fair returns to Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood June 7+8, from 11 am- 6 pm Saturday and 10 am-5 pm Sunday. This 67th annual event is free to the public and features artists from across the country boasting high quality, handmade, original works including glass, jewelry, leather, photography, printmaking, painting, sculpture, wood, ceramics and fiber art. It is one of the most anticipated art fairs, kicking off the summer festival season in Chicago!

In addition to the exceptional artists at the very center of the event, 57th Street Art Fair is excited to announce three new elements in 2014:

Scheduled throughout the Fair, award winning artists will offer pop-up artist talks, speaking on behalf of their work, background, medium, aesthetic, inspirations and more.

An Artist-At-Work area featuring artists demonstrating the process of art making that includes throwing pots, watercolor, and working with ink on paper.

Partnering with the acclaimed Buddy Guy's Legends, 57th Street Art Fair guests will enjoy some of Chicago's finest blues and jazz both Saturday and Sunday. “We are thrilled about our new offerings in 2014,” says Alexia Trzyna, 57th Street Art Fair Board Member. “The art educational pieces get to the core of our mission - to connect artists with the art buying public by making it easier to understand the skill, craftsmanship, talent and experience of artists and what they go through to bring their work to a fair.”

The talented musicians coming to the Fair by way of Buddy Guy’s Legends will provide further entertainment and ambiance among the artists. “Music is an art form, with various genres bringing people together to form a common bond,” says Board Member Leon Greenberg. “We enthusiastically welcome Buddy Guy’s Legends’ line-up and know the presence of musicians will only enhance the Fair.”

Music Schedule as follows:

Saturday, June 7

12pm to 1:45pm Anthony Moser

2pm to 3:45pm Nicholas Barron

The 57th Street Art Fair is a two-day outdoor celebration of the visual arts held in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, adjacent to the University of Chicago campus and President Barak Obama's home. Considered the oldest juried art fair in the Midwest, the fair typically features the work of 200 exhibitors. Most are returning artists, but each year between 50 and 75 new exhibitors are invited to participate by a jury made up of collectors, critics, curators and artists. The goal of the 57th Street Art Fair is to provide a venue for creators of quality fine art and fine craft to meet with the art-buying public. The 57th Street Art Fair is an Illinois not for profit organized by volunteers and all proceeds are used to produce the annual Fair.
