Expand your knowledge of contemporary abstract painting in this intensive workshop. Emphasis will be placed on creating visually interesting compositions from a formal point of view; focusing on color, value, line, shape, scale, and surface.
Through lectures and demonstrations each morning, Ellen will share techniques specific to the acrylic medium, how to use color relationships to your advantage, and how to develop surfaces. Afternoons will be spent applying and practicing these concepts with Ellen available for individualized feedback.
Inspired by organic patterns, architecture, and color relationships, Ellen Richman explores abstraction and the formal aspects of painting. She works intuitively throughout the painting process to find a point of balance in each work. Ellen received her BFA from the University of Minnesota. She has taught and developed contemporary abstract painting programs since 2006 at Minnetonka Center for the Arts. Ellen's work has been exhibited internationally and is included in numerous public collections throughout the Midwest.
