John Alexander Kay -
"I love making art, not just taking photos!"
Based in Minnesota, published and award winning photographic artist John Alexander Kay reveals his artistic ability by capturing the world at its finest. His stunning landscape, architecture and still life art features a technique known as High Dynamic Range (HDR) in which he blends five to seven photographs to create one final image that will amaze you. He has presented his use of this technique as a teaching tool to camera clubs and individuals.
John has consistently demonstrated his skill and patience to reach the top level of excellence as a nature and wildlife photographer by perfecting his images regarding composition, understanding light, quality of the final image and the use of post processing. He will sometimes spend hours perfecting an image before he posts it on-line. His nature images are up close and personal to give you a view you may not have seen before. Spending hours researching where to find wildlife, driving to remote places, spending countless hours to find the "perfect" image, many times facing challenging situations, his work will astound you with its beauty and quality.
Throughout his entire life John has had a love for the natural world and has become an expert on identifying, tracking and photographing wildlife from birds to mammals to insects and more. Other photographers ask him for help in identifying subjects they have shot on a regular basis. John has a gift and love for teaching. His fervor for nature was great inspiration for his science students during his thirty-three-year teaching career. Anyone who attends one of his presentations will come away with a new excitement for nature, wildlife or HDR photography.
John’s work has been shown in magazines, books, newspapers, business calendars, dental clinics, medical clinics, church books, art galleries and billboards. He has been a featured speaker at camera clubs including the Twin Cities Area Council of Camera Clubs Spring Break.
John’s art has been displayed in the Mall of America Rotunda, The Johnson Heritage Art Gallery, The Wyoming (MN) Area Creative Arts Community Hallberg Center for the Arts where his art has received many People's Choice Awards and he has been the Featured Artist at the Pine Center for the Arts, among many others.
John has a strong presence on social media where he shows his work and offers it for sale through his professional website where a remarkable variety of artistic work and subjects are available for purchase.
