      <title>Cracked Walnut Solstice Reading at the Eagan Resource Center Food Shelf</title>

      <description>&lt;span&gt;Join us on the day of the Solstice for a reading at the Eagan Resource Center Food Shelf.&lt;/span&gt;&#xD;&#xD;&lt;span&gt;Our featured readers will be:&lt;/span&gt;&#xD;Khary Jackson&#xD;&lt;span class="text_exposed_show"&gt;Kathryn Kysar&#xD;Anh-Hoa Thi Nguyen&#xD;Victoria Peterson Hilleque &#xD;Sarah Rosemary&#xD;John Wenstrom&#xD;Carolyn Williams-Noren&#xD;&#xD;The mission of the Center is to end hunger in the Dakota area, and so we ask for audience members to bring healthy food, fresh or canned to donate to the shelf. Volunteer chefs will also cook for us for the evening.&#xD;&#xD;Please join us as we celebrate the Solstice with poetry, good food, and a spirit of giving.&#xD;&#xD;Author Bios&#xD;&#xD;Khary Jackson&#xD;is a poet, playwright, dancer and musician. He is a Cave Canem Fellow, and thus has further reason to adore black people. He has written 12 plays, one of which (Water) was produced in 2009 at Ink and Pulp Theatre in Chicago. He has been a recipient of several grants, including the 2012 Cultural Community Grant and 2010 Artist Initiative Grant for poetry from the Minnesota State Arts Board, and the 2009 VERVE Spoken Word Grant from Intermedia Arts. He's a little weird, but rest assured, there's a method to the way he stares into your house.&#xD;&#xD;Kathryn Kysar&#xD;is the author of two books of poetry, Dark Lake and Pretend the World, and she edited the anthology Riding Shotgun: Women Write About Their Mothers. She has received fellowships and residencies from Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts, the Minnesota State Arts Board, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, and she recently served on the board of directors for the Association of Writers. She has a B.A. from Hamline University and an M.F.A. from Wichita State University. She chairs the creative writing program at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Minneapolis and lives with her family in Saint Paul.&#xD;&#xD;Anh-Hoa Thi Nguyen&#xD;holds an MFA from Mills College in Oakland, California where she was awarded the Mary Merritt Henry Prize in Poetry and the Ardella Mills Literary Composition Prize in Creative Non-Fiction. Her work has been published in several journals and anthologies, and she has performed at numerous venues and festivals in the Bay Area and Twin Cities. She has completed a residency at Hedgebrook, a Writers-in-Residence program for women, and has received a writing fellowship from the Elizabeth George Foundation and an Arts Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Anh-Hoa is a poet, livre d'artiste, community artist and budding gastronomist. Her current passions include reading, writing, baking and eating.&#xD;&#xD;Victoria Peterson Hilleque&#xD;Believes the whole world improves when people write and read poetry recklessly.&#xD;&#xD;Sarah Rosemary&#xD;is a poet, musician, and a fantastic giver of hugs. She is an advocate for healthy food access for all, believing that we show our love for each other through the food that we share. Her poems and stories are published in forums such as Google Drive, Facebook, and the Xanga blog she used when she was 14. She works toward systematic change as staff at the Eagan &amp; Lakeville Resource Center, and writes as a way to understand her experiences in this wild and precious life.&#xD;&#xD;John Wenstrom&#xD;grew up in Pueblo, Colorado and got his doctorate in English from the University of Minnesota in 1991. He started writing poems as a teenager and has been writing more and more in recent years. Many of his poems are narratives about chance events and encounters, a la Charles Resnikoff. Her poems have been published in Spoon River Poetry Review, Literary Mama, Water~Stone Review, and elsewhere. She was a 2010-2011 Loft Mentor Series winner and received a 2010 Blacklock Nature Sanctuary fellowship.       <description>The acclaimed American writer who served as United States Poet Laureate from 2001-2003 will read selections from a variety of his work with an emphasis on his new book, &amp;ldquo;Aimless Love: New and Selected Poems 2003-2013,&amp;rdquo; to be released in October 2013. Collins, whose last three collections have broken sales records for poetry, has managed to combine high critical acclaim with broad popular appeal. His delightful and accessible style draws people of all ages and backgrounds to his standing room only readings. He will also take questions from the audience and participate in a book signing. Collins will also appear as a guest on Garrison Keillor&amp;rsquo;s &amp;ldquo;A Prairie Home Companion&amp;rdquo; at the State Theatre on Saturday, November 2, the night after his Pantages event.
