Elizabeth Peyton aims to capture people at "that particular moment when they're about to become what they'll become" Is she giving us a glimpse of a world rarely seen by outsiders? Writer and longtime music critic Jim Walsh, photographer Xavier Tavera, artist Melba Price, and documentary filmmaker/journalist Chuck Olsen talk about their work, the people and cultures they cover, and why the public is so interested in these subjects.

In this month's featured forum we're talking about the spate of recent
closures and shakeups in the MN arts community--from this summer's turmoil
in the MIA's Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program, the Southern Theater, and
Minnesota Museum of American Art to the closures of longtime venues like
Theatre de la Jeune Lune and Minnesota Center for Photography. Dance critic
Lightsey Darst starts our conversation with a nuanced, thoughtful essay,
"Diary of a Crisis," which reflects on the recent tumult at the Southern
Theater surrounding the abrupt dismissal of influential artistic director
Jeff Bartlett. This is an open forum dialogue, no registration to the site will be required, please stay on topic and civil. Moderators will be removing off-topic and uncivil posts.

This month, we’re talking about a growing gap between older and younger artists. Are the “Millennials” in the MN artist pool doing something fundamentally differently than artists of ages gone by, or is that kind of talk just inter-generational paranoia? This is an open forum dialogue, no registration to the site will be required, please stay on topic and civil. Moderators will be removing off-topic and uncivil posts.
