Workshop for Individual Artists to be Held in Duluth

On Saturday, April 8, 2006 , the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council (ARAC), working in cooperation with Springboard for the Arts (SFA) and mnartists.org, will hold a technical assistance workshop for artists in room E2410 at the Lake Superior College , 2101 Trinity Road , Duluth , from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The registration fee will be $20 per person and includes lunch, beverages, refreshments, and workshop materials. The workshops will focus on practical information applicable to artists working in all disciplines and will also provide time for individuals to network with other artists in the Arrowhead Region. The sessions and the presenters include: Recordkeeping and Financial Management for Artists presented by Chris Osgood, Director of Artist Services, SFA, offering the basic skills for budgeting and managing your finances and outline basic record keeping tools; a lunch time presentation by Kathleen Kvern, Project Director, mnartists.org, explaining the features of the site and how it can be used by artists to connect with their audience, other artists, market themselves, and promote their work;and Marketing and Professional Presentation for Artists presented by Chris Osgood, Director of Artists Services, SFA, focusing on portfolio development, artistic resumes, promotional materials, and marketing and selling your work on the internet.

As an additional opportunity for regional artists, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in room E2402 mnartists.org staff will be available to help artists register on mnartists.org and upload their work samples. This assistance is free to regional artists and you do not have to attend the Technical Assistance Workshop to register for free assistance registering on Minnesota Artists Online.
