I think that this winter ranks among my least favorite for some time.
I just want to get outside and work. I have commissions lined up and ready. oh yeah today I finished my taxes, mounted a brass plated on a carving that is to be picked up today. I got up early and put air in my wifes car tires. I typed this on this forum and I am ready for more. Thanks for listening to me in frozen isolation/insanity. Gabe I really love that series of abstract drawings I vote two frost bitten thumbs up. I hope you find a way to keep producing your art and live...... Ray, I am suspicious of that video, I think you are actually behind the wheel of the car and the paint is resting on the dash board....... I am must say that the blues, yellows and whites of winter sing to me, at times focusing my attention away from the desparate nature of the frozen tundra. Other things are actually living out there. I have a vole that lives in the gardens around my back stairs and I see tracks and tunnels. that vole must be a fricking maniac can you image waiting out this cold as a tiny little rodent.? well back to work here is a recent painted relief for those that find love while others watch It's a looner eclispe of the heart ![]() |

I caught a chill this morning walking the dog and decided to take the day off. I usually work outside all day so I am actually used to the cold.
New frames came in yesterday so I am off to buy mat board. I recently got an Epson 3800 printer so I am now printing my photos on 17"x22" paper. The scale change is amazing I love it. Here is a little drawing on plywood I did this weekend. I am doing a series of small drawings on plywood and this is the first in the series. Today is freezing and I don't think I can take it anymore!
I did a photoshoot at Spill the Wine Restaurant on Washington today and all the streets around it were blocked off because Maxwell's Restaurant (just down the street) was burning down. The firefighters were on cranes, blasting the place with water, and the water kept freezing and building up on the outside of the building, it looked really weird...I should have snapped some pictures but I was way too cold to the point of screaming and had to rush over to Open Book (my office) to work. |

I'm happy and sad at the same time today over Kathleen Kvern's announcement that she's leaving mnartists.org - She's helped the members of this site create a community that will continue to serve us as it continues to evolve. Personally - I would not be where I am as an artist today if there were no mnartists.org . Think about it - Where would we be without this premier public arts website that offers us so much without our having to pay a cent for its use? Where would be be without the professional expertise of its staff? And more precisely, where would we be without Kathleen at the helm over the past years while the site was expanding and developing into what it is today? Many newcomer's to the site might be tempted to take it for granted. Those of us who have been involved with it since it's beginning - fully understand how much time and effort has gone into getting it up and running and then keeping it running as well as it is today. We all owe Kathleen Kvern a great big THANK-YOU for a job light-years beyond well-done! Bravo! And Thanks!

Kathleen is AMAZING. I don't know how they will ever replace her. Her new employer is ridiculously lucky to snap her up and I am sure she'll be doing good all over the place for a long time coming! I have no doubt she will check back in on us constantly, but its definitely the end of an era. I guess you could say that this baby is all grown up - but we'll miss her all the same. Good luck Kathleen!

Say your goodbyes if you've got someone you can say good bye to.
How far we've come seems right on..... if you feel inspired to watch. Buildings burning down.... and staring at the passengers waving goodbye.. some folks don't remember when we were here in 2001. Well not this frame, but this core. And I know the painfull cold, but I tell ya, if it were iceage right now I'm ready. MMM -30 all night and I'd know how to survive. Gotta have a warm heart beating warm blood. And keep your damn head covered. Anyway, I'm going to share some pictures in a minute, but right now, our friend Mr Combs is working on one last round of work, to raise some transitional funds. I would really appreciate it if everyone in a position to buy some quality work from a quality artist, would please show some support as much as they can. I'll leave it to him to post to auctions, but I'm just saying. Gabe doesn't know where he is going. We are working on getting studio space at Soap Factory, but living quarters are up in the air. BUY ART NOW, and pay the man what it's WORTH. If you know collectors or investors, please put a word in. Today (Friday22) is the day he has to tell the landlord to take it to court.. just buying time on inevitable eviction. The painting you see driving through Minneapolis, (and yes, Curtis, that really IS the painting driving, not me.) can be re-bought for $400. I'll give GC $350, it's got both our names on it. I think you all know what I'm sayin. Onto some photos. I have acquired a Sony Mavica, which was one of the first digital cameras out. It records on mini CDR! It's annoying because you have to fill the disk and "Finalize" it before you can read the disk in a computer. Well, I took a few pictures of the moon last night and was happy to see the disk was full and ready to be finalized.
