Today I bit the bullet and went for an "interview" at one of those creative temp agencies...It was weird because the building their office was in was one I worked in as a teenager, taking calls from banks that were doing background checks on people opening new accounts. It was a little blast from the past...I used to have to go in on Saturdays sometimes but on my breaks I remembering listening to "The Beatbox" on Radio K in my car, who I had dubbed "Barf" (for multiple reasons). Random, right? Well, anyway, I am on the road to getting "creative" contract work, which will most likely will entail copywriting for un-cool non-profits or something to that effect.
Bonus: Some lady stared at me for a minute straight in the elevator. |

thanks, Mr. Rolfe. i was hoping he would wait until he was going home but i think he made me his first stop. he did'nt get mad and was actually understanding about it all. i said go ahead and file the paperwork. next, i get a court date, go to court and get a date to leave by. i''m waiting until the sheriff comes to escort me though. that would make a funny video, but it'd likely have to be filmed without being seen. so i have two weeks max of a home. i just put up six new eyekons, one blue flowers, and a cool old graf mag on ebay. after i leave the library i'll go home and make more, and probably add some comics too. i really have no place to go when this is over. however, i have now sold over 250 artworks on ebay, plus another fifty or so besides that in the last two years since i've not been working on anything other than art. still have'nt been drinking and not really missing it. i have to paint every piece of anything in my apartment and either ebay it or put it on the street for anyone who happens upon it. i'm strangely optimistic today, and not minding the feeling of stevens closure... ![]() |

i'll likely make it a stretched out round. not sure what day i should quit posting them. maybe i'll have to make the last few posted packaged and ready to be mailed from anywhere. a good 14 hour day yesterday. somewhere over 12 the day before. watched princess mononoke again while painting, and dropped it in the mail on the way here to the library. returned an american tragedy, and picked up conrads' "a smile of fortune" as its a nice short follow up to such a long book. any other conrad recommendations, sam? i know you're a fan. i'm looking at reading a bit differently. my eyes were more hungry as i ran over the racks of books, excited and more understanding of something. been sober a week and already feeling cleaned out. the current series i have going for paintings is a bit more in depth than this last one. more layered. i think i can get everything decent to paint on painted in the next week. on to the rest of the net... ![]() |

Yeah, check out Typhoon. A bit shorter than Hearts of Darkness and more enjoyable. His short stories are usually quite good. When you're feeling ambitious again, Nostromo is transcendent.

I just finished "Kurt Cobain: About A Son". Damn good if you ever liked nirvana. There was something strangely familiar about it the whole time, I didn't get it until the end. It's Michael Azerrads unheard interview tapes (!). I'd read the book "Come As You Are" when I was 15 or 16. (Fuck! 13 years ago!)
![]() Rent it if you can find it + interested. I feel like a telling personal insight about me, is that I grew up in Northeast Minneapolis, but in 1993 I was riding my bike all over Seattle, wearing a nirvana t-shirt, wondering where Kurt Cobain lived... This was a great film. I think I remember hearing about it, but it snuck up on me just now. Release date October 2007. well, i'm feeling pretty good today. i went to church this morning, and stayed for a huge dinner afterwards. i can't remember being that full since i don't know when. i think i'll go to the church dinner by loring tomorrow evening too. finished some art off, and it was warm enough to get better photos with help from the sun. the current ebay series is selling, thank God. the soap factory studios are on a waiting list through later this year, but i think i'll volunteer anyways. i emailed for an office space in uptown in a church. i hope i hear back soon. i'm drinking decaf at dunn bros off lyndale/franklin. i put the one book back and grabbed typhoon, which i started reading last night. thinking about how tiny lights are coming to me and how they radiate much larger when i let them go... this piece is for 86 Gallery in Ventura, California. a commission from mypace networking. my minds going crazy, so busy... i am not afraid of the future... ![]() |

Yes! I'm just very empathetically happy for all the Minnesota artists winning right now. Sounds like a fine day Gabe. Things are going to keep getting greater.
I was thrilled to see Diablo Cody and the Cohen Brothers win Oscars tonight. The Cody win was particularly moving. |

i wonder whats going to happen to old mcwhirr. i sent you some prints sam. ebay is lovely. 27 sent me a hater message, but his tags sucked until i told him so and then they got better. anyways, that was an excellent church dinner. i'm full two days in a row. no response from the office space. bummer. i'll go look for more here quick. i forgot to say, i got rejected from the army again. they still won't let me in because of being so def. its probably lucky for our country too. can you imagine me a trained killer, employed by the government? well, i can. ha! went to scrappys/american iron today and got $22.95 for copper. i still have more to take in. stopped by penco on the way home for a bottle of pilot super color marker refill ink. they've re-modeled since i was there last and the ink was cheaper too. high-quality shit. they always look at me like i'm stealing, so threadbare. well, i would if i was younger. lots of painting coming along, i hope to have them up by tomorrow evening. some guy tried to fight me after i told him to fuck off for honking the hell out of this old lady in the alley. he was driving a brand new benz. "let me park my car" ok, go ahead and park it. i'm going to the scrap metal recycling plant after i hop on this bus. asshole i called him, and he got really mad. you'd think he'd have better things to do than try to fight a guy that looks and is almost homeless. it makes me laugh. hopefully he won't recognize me next time, because i won't be mad anymore. i have a big mouth when i'm pissed, especially under circumstances of disrepecting hunched over little old ladies who have no left or right to move over to. now i'm at dunn bros by loring park, enjoying some coffee and minding my own business. i'm going to go paint more soon, as soon as i wear down my net addiction or my macbook battery since i did'nt bring the cord. i've been drinking lots of coffee all day canya tell? heres a painting... ![]() |

Got the framed drawing in the mail the other day Gabe and it's outstanding. Goes beautifully with my butterflies piece. Moved them both into my office next to the desk. The bonus drawing is great as well. I'll have to keep my eye out for a small frame for it.
Well, the show's finally installed and officially open. Now I can move on to getting some work done again. |
