A small collective of Twin Cities artists opened the Mill District Arts Gallery in downtown Minneapolis last November and we are looking for a few additional artists to join us. The gallery is located at 1023 Washington Ave South in a sensitively restored 1883 building in the historic Minneapolis Mill District. It provides a storefront for your work as well as gallery exhibition space. Resident members pay monthly rent of $50 and agree to work several shifts a month in the store (minimum of 12 hours). There is a sliding commission scale from 40% to 10% depending on number of hours worked. You will have the ability to schedule the space during off hours for private showings or classes. We are particularly interested in expanding beyond artists with hanging art who need a lot of wall space and are looking for artists working in the areas of wood or metal sculpture, ceramics, glass, paper, tile or mosaics. Guest artist spaces are also available monthly for a reasonable 40/60% commission split.
Please contact us if you are interested in this exciting opportunity. Include a link to samples of your work. Artists will be chosen based on the quality of their work, how their work contributes to the mix of the gallery and their ability to commit to participate in the running of the business. Or you can stop down this Saturday, April 4th from 12 to 6 pm for a tour and more details. Please bring a couple samples of your work. The Mill District Arts Gallery is 3 blocks east of the Guthrie Theater on Washington Ave in the same block as Open Book. Metered parking only so bring quarters. We look forward to meeting you! www.milldistrictartsgallery.com milldistrictartsgallery@gmail.com Last edited by Tommyrey : 03-30-2009 at 10:27 AM. Reason: Open House extended to a second weekend |

This is a very profound opportunity. I need to buy a house in the city before I can take advantage of such.

Well Ray, if you spend the $50 a month in rent at the gallery and sell a lot of art, then you can afford a house in the city
