  • Andrew Claflin updated the Artwork Fading Light
Update - this piece is currently on show at the Maple Grove Arts Center in, well, Maple Grove.  It won best of show and will be up for a few weeks yet.  Go and see it!!!  Check out the stained cedar frame to accent the natural hues of the painting.     Fading Light.  I had been working on a few water colors for my own study and the images were of low light conditions in the woods.  So that in mind I wanted to hint at a failing or fading light peeking through the trees.  That kind of out …
  • Andrew Claflin updated the Artwork From the Cove
From the Cove is an impressionistic painting of my friends cabin shoreline at Lake Big Too Much (minus the cabin).  I was out on a leaky row boat getting some late morning exercise when I took some pictures along the shoreline.   My attempt here was to let go of the detail that I seem to gravitate towards and let some of the color and suggestions take over.  I was happy with how it turned out.   This was done on wood with limited primer coat which allowed for the wood grain to come through…
  • No reception date or this one.  It is open to view during business hours.  Welcome to round two at the Wine Guyz where Andrew Claflin will have some updated works, older works and new stuff...all for you.  If you are in the area and looking for a good bite of food and some wine to go with that...well you should stop into the Wine Guyz and see the new works up for sale/display in historic downtown LaCrosse.
  • If you are in the La Crosse WI area then please give yourself a treat and stop into the Wine Guyz on King Street.   Andrew Claflin with be showcasing paintings and mixed media works for the month of December.  All works are for sale unless otherwise noted.   This collection will be focused on what I love and most likely will center in on music and cycling.  Being a native to LaCrosse, I am going to also push for some works that showcases the LaCrosse area. Reception will be December 2nd 6-9p…
  • This will be displayed in Dec at the Wine Guyz (La Crosse).  This was a unique project consisting of taking a painting that wasn't doing what I wanted so I turned it sideways and tried to extract a water / river bank / sea shore painting....abstractly of course.  This had an old feel to me - almost prehistoric in a way.  The name suggests a visual capture of the shores of a continent lost in a time. Mysterious in nature.     One can only imagine what these shores actually looked like b…
  • This work was born from looking at a long surface and wondering if a story could be told.  So cycling, landscape....why not.  The composition I struggled with and always think I can do more so I must stop thinking as such.  The wolf chasing the bike chasing the bus - Been there not at once and not a wolf...but a dog...same thing  I started the painting and struggled with being loose.  Hence the time on this - I was just uneasy with the approach.  Too ridgid.   So it sat and I jumped into …
  • Andrew Claflin updated the Event Autumn Birch
I am SO EXCITE to be able to bring my work to your eyes at the Maple Grove Dunn Bros coffee shop.  Located on main streeet in Maple Grove - see map.  I am going to bring originals of my new series of birch trees for you to view, enjoy, talk about etc.  If you are interested in these works for  your own home or something like it - just simply let me know.  I will set a day for an artist reception soon.  Early Nov.   these works are abstract home decore pieces.  At least that is how I see…
  • Part of a 4 painting series, each the same size and created at the same time/style.  see others.  This is part of a much larger exhibit that will circulate through Dunn Bros Maple Grove for Nov-Dec.  It will change up a bit as it will also need to, or part of it, go to LaCrosse for a month long exhibit at the Wine Guyz.   These are for sale and I would rather sell it as a set but would not hesitate to let them go individually.   They are birch trees - that's about as artsy of language I c…
  • Starting August 3rd 2015, works by Andrew Claflin will be on display in a dynamic setting in the NORTH METRO ( yes...free and they have food.....for sale).  I will be installing roughly 15 works at the Anoka/Ramsey Dunn Bros.  Why is this a big deal?  I get the whole store and patrons can take some time to view up close and personal the result of implementing some new methods to oil painting.   Works will be for sale of course but with a special twist.  My dear friend, Trinity Lopez, is a y…
