  • Carrera del Darro is a street located in Granada, which was the capital of the Moorish empire in Spain. The Alhambra, the palace of the royal family, is on a hilltop to the left of where this picture was taken. El Río Darro separates the palace from the rest of the city. I really enjoyed Granada because of all the Arabic influences in the architecture and decoration of the city. On this street in particular, there were a lot of Arabic shops that sold various handmade crafts. Spain is a count…
  • This was taken in the Jewish quarter of the city called 'la judaría,' located behind the mosque. Most of the cities in Spain, including Sevilla where I lived, had a judaría where the Jewish people lived and sometimes were segregated from the Christian community in past centuries. I found the streets of this neighborhood beautiful with the white buildings and narrow lanes.
  • While in Lisbon, I took this photo early in the morning as I was walking around the city. This was a street entirely of stairs that had a few shops and restaurants. The man in the photo is setting the tables outside his restaurant before it opens.

  • Hannah Shie updated the Artwork Rainy Day 2/7
This is a print that I did while anticipating my first trip to Europe. I was thinking about streets and at the time, I was fascinated with umbrellas so I combined them to make this! While I was working on it, the song “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath popped into my head and I thought about all the people that I pass every day, not taking notice or realizing that they have lives too: All those people going somewhere Why have I never cared? Give me Your eyes for just one second Give me You…
  • Hannah Shie updated the Artwork English Cottage
This print is actually from a picture that my Grandma took on a trip to England. Some of my ancestors were from England so she, along with my Grandpa and her brothers and sisters, went on a trip to see the villages where their relatives lived.
  • Hannah Shie updated the Artwork Alley Window
This print was made before I went on my first Europe trip. Before I went, I would spend hours looking at where I would be going and the beautiful pictures of the streets. One thing that I noticed was how incredibly intricate some of the architecture was in some areas, especially the windows. It was so interesting to me that something as simple as a window was so detailed and thought out that I had to create my own version of one.
