Jacob Allers-Hatlie (b.1990, Lakeville, Minnesota) Is a multimedia artist based in Minneapolis Minnesota. I use watercolors and words to take you for a walk through my mind as if we were close friends. I make my work feel as human as possible. In my paintings I create the world I experience and feel by combining images and words. By putting these two things together, I can better describe a moment or experience. My work explores the feelings of relationships and the space that is filled and left empty by them.
I’m influenced by narrative poetry and narrative photography. I feed off of the way poetry and photography can look at common things in a special light. Poets like Marie Howe and Richard Jones make mundane scenes beautiful and photographers like Alec Soth in the style of American documentary photography do the same thing.
