Browse my collections to see several distinct bodies of work - some based on the cultures of places I have lived, others on Nature in its visible and invisible forms, or on Human Nature, or distinguished by the use of different visual media. I don't stay in one place as an artist nor as a person - if there is a unifying factor in my work, I cannot articulate it better than the work itself.
But ponder this: A spoonful of fertile organic soil or mid-summer pondwater holds more than a billion microorganisms plus numerous other tiny creatures - of perhaps a million different species. Most of these are uncatalogued and unstudied by science - and vary incredibly from one spot on earth to another. All larger species depend on these for daily function, in ways we only dimly understand. Our biological ignorance is profound!
To challenge our ignorance, I have been working for a number of years on a body of diverse visual art I call Geo-Expressionism. These paintings, prints, videos and other imagery are meant to stimulate our imagination of the basis of our biosphere - to open our understanding of what is around us and who we are.
