I illustrate books for young adults and children. I work in watercolor, ink and digital mediums. My work is both dark and whimsical with a little hint of cute. Expressive character emotions and body language are used to narrate each piece. I am inspired by the loose and scratchy marks with dark colors in Where the Wild Things Are and the soft, plush characters illustrated with bright, sunny colors in Peter Rabbit. My work May I Have a Piece is a small illustration of a small boy on a bench eating his lunch. Animals such as a mouse, rabbit and a cat on his head wait around begging as well. This work is in watercolor with sketchy pencil lines outlining the form. The colors are bright to indicate a sunny day. My work is inspired by everything in my life, from my family to what I love and what expresses me. It is a place where I can escape to my own world and others can take a look at what I’ve created.
