I find myself drawn, again and again, to people and portraits in my work. The human mind is full of endless possibilities, as is the human image, and because of this, I find it to be the most interesting subject. An image of someone can be more than just of them; it can be about anything. My work is most often about me the artist, my memories, dreams, and emotions. Through portraiture I put flesh to my imagination. I manifest these ideas using a variety of mediums, but most often with paints and pencil. I push my subject and media to explore the surreal, strange, and sometimes disturbing sides of people and portraits. My style uses simple color choices and simple compositions, this helps the slight surrealisms and abstractions both stand out, and also appear more natural in the image.
