Lisa is a freelance writer whose publications include seven nonfiction children’s books and various articles in publications, such as Minnesota Parent and Minnesota Monthly. Nine more nonfiction children’s books are forthcoming in 2014 and 2015…so far. Most recently, she was awarded Minnesota’s chapter SCBWI Writing Mentorship with her YA novel-in-progress. With her YA novel, she was also an Honorable Mention for the McKnight Artist Fellowship and won a Minnesota State Arts Board grant to travel to Africa to do research. Her day job as a teacher has lasted almost 20 years; she’s worked with students from age five to 70. Originally from Colorado, she’s lived in México, Italy, and Japan.
