Derrida’s iterability is the idea that words, images, ideas, signs are understood and defined only as they are repeated. The repeated usage of a word in different contexts defines it but differentiates as much as it connects. There is a world of layered meaning, the puns, the double entendres or simpler concrete sense.
Prints are repeated images that contain variations that some printers welcome more than others. I love the variations.
All of the usages ever uttered make up the meaning of a word, just as all the variations in prints give character to a run of prints.
Ideally, the format of separate but connected prints in different frames will complement the variety of levels one most work with to read ancient Greek and to successfully maneuvoer one’s way through one’s life both in academic circles, artistic communities or at the bar.
