Born and raised in the Midwest, Nancy Grist studied fine art at the University of Wisconsin as well as architecture and sculpture at the University of Minnesota where she received her Masters of Architecture degree in 2000. A “maker” her whole life, Nancy now complements her architectural practice with a healthy dose of creative expression working in both painting and sculpture. Influenced by her interest in architecture and sailing in particular, her gestural approach focuses on understanding figural and structural form, qualities of light and color and subjects at play. She is inspired by the fresh waters of inland lakes and the people that enjoy them. Nancy has shown her work in numerous exhibits, winning awards for both her painting and sculpture.
