On December 1, 2008, the Library Foundation of Hennepin County and The Friends of the Minneapolis Public united to create a unified, dynamic library support organization. The creation of a merged Library Foundation of Hennepin County helps to ensure that our libraries throughout the county are thriving community centers of intellectual and lifelong learning.
The newly united support organization brings 83 years of experience in supporting local libraries through private fundraising, programming, and public awareness activities. The new organization will strive to be the premier library support organization in the nation by bringing the strengths of the two organizations together, and working collaboratively with the Hennepin County Library administration, Library Board, the Hennepin County Commissioners, and all public library customers and supporters across the County.
