Mission

Provides connection for the many groups and individuals involved in children's literature; raises awareness of, and the level of respect for, children's books, book creators, and resources; offers encouragement to our members with information and grant opportunities; offers educational opportunities to our members by organizing and sponsoring workshops, seminars, and conferences; and encourages more children and young adults to read more books by working within our communities on reading, writing, and literacy projects.

Program/Services

Annual conference in late April on topics of interest to those involved with children's literature:

April 23-24, 2004: The Business of Creating Children's Books

April 22-23, 2005: From the Beginning: the founders of children's literature

April 21-22, 2006: What Makes It Funny? humor in children's literature

Annual Children's Book Week Festival featuring more than 30 children's authors and illustrators

Ongoing educational efforts as CLN increases its offerings of history, destinations, and reading lists that will help parents, educators, and librarians encourage more kids to read more books.
