Nautilus Music-Theater announces new production of THE LAST FIVE YEARS By Jason Robert Brown • Local cast to include Norah Long and Bradley Greenwald

Nautilus Music-Theater returns to the stage with a full production of THE LAST FIVE YEARS, an award-winning musical by the composer and lyricist of PARADE and SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD.

Thirteen performances will be offered from March 4 through March 21, at the Loading Dock Theater in Saint Paul. The production will be directed by Nautilus’ artistic director Ben Krywosz, with musical direction provided by Mindy Eschedor.

This unusual theatrical song cycle features two of the Twin Cities’ most exciting performers chronicling a young couple's romance in an innovative and heartbreaking way: her story starts at the end of their relationship; his begins on the day they meet. This unusual approach offers a new twist on the conventional “boy meets girl” story of writer Jamie Wellerstein and his aspiring actress wife Cathy Hiatt, as we simultaneously follow them from first date to divorce and back again. Both poignant and clever, it's been called “a bittersweet charmer from a gifted composer” and “a potent reminder of what musicals can be like when they make up their minds to really sing.”

Bradley Greenwald, known to local audiences for his work with Theatre de la Juene Lune, Children’s Theater Company, and the Guthrie Theatre, will perform the role of Jamie Wellerstein. Bradley has previously appeared with Nautilus in productions of INTO THE WOODS, THREE VISITATIONS, and HEARTS ON FIRE, along with numerous appearances in their monthly works-in-progress series, ROUGH CUTS.

Norah Long will appear as Cathy Hiatt. Norah is a frequent performer with Chanhassen Theater Dinners, and has also performed at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, the Great American History Theater, and Ten Thousand Things Theatre Company. Norah has previously appeared with Nautilus in productions of GOBLIN MARKET, INTO THE WOODS, and THREE VISITATIONS, and has also performed frequently in their ROUGH CUTS series.

These phenomenal singer-actors promise to make this production one of the highlights of this year's Twin Cities’ theater season, continuing the Nautilus tradition of presenting innovative presentations of new music-theater which are theatrically provocative and musically accessible.
