The mission of Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) is to engage diverse artists and learners in finding creativity, expression and inspiration through the book arts.
The artistic vision of Minnesota Center for Book Arts is to preserve the traditional crafts of bookmaking, advance the book as a vital contemporary art form, and interpret the book in its aesthetic, historic, and cultural contexts.
MCBA provides classes in papermaking, printing and bookbinding for youth, teens, families, teachers and adults. Studio space is available for hourly rental by students and artists, and there is also an opportunity for co-op membership. The MCBA Star Tribune Foundation Gallery features four to five exhibitions each year of traditional and contemporary book arts from around the world, and is free and open to the public. The Shop at MCBA sells the work of consignment artists, offers a wide selection of book arts supplies, and is stocked with beautiful and original gift items.
