Mission

Inspire Arts is an arts enrichment program for the patients, caregivers and community of Hennepin County Medical Center. A program of Patient Experience Services, Inspire Arts seeks to promote a healing environment through art that helps reduce the stress and anxiety often associated with healthcare environments. A broad variety of artistic expressions such as music, visual arts, and performing arts are intended to improve morale, build hope, inspire creativity, and reflect the diversity of our community. The program is built on a growing body of evidence that confirms art and creativity have an important role to play in the healing environment.

Inspire Arts is a member of the Global Alliance for Arts and Health, a international organization that promotes the incorporation of the arts as an integral part of healthcare. The Alliance brings member programs together to share ideas, research, and best practices. We are also active participants in the Midwest Arts in Healthcare Network (MAIHN) and our coordinator co-chaired the network from inception to 2010. www.maihn.org

Program/Services

Inspire Arts features quarterly, rotating art exhibits in four locations in the Medical Center and music concerts in lobbies and other areas. We bring the healing power of the arts to patients and staff through visual art activities in patient rooms, the Cancer Center, and Caring for the Caregiver Workshops. Adding to the Service League's 30+ year-old collection of art, we acquire and place local and regional visual art throughout the Medical Center.
