Power of Choice Minnesota a 501 3(c) was created by Christine Nelson a survivor of commercial sex trafficking. The idea of using art as a catalyst for education, awareness and supportive services grew from a class in her Master’s program at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul Minnesota. Christine is a graduate of the Advocacy and Political Leadership program. The class was “Art and Social Movements”.
Eager to tell her story through a picture essay she enlisted her sister to take photographs of her. She was interested in showing the reality of trafficking as a public health epidemic. A powerful picture essay of the untold and secret stories of what life is really like for those who are trafficked.
Power of Choice seeks to dive deeper into educating and bring awareness around the public health epidemic of trafficking, particularly sex trafficking.
The ability to share my story using art with others has already activated the interests of several people who want to know how they can help others who are experiencing trafficking.
