As a visual artist working in a variety of media I am interested in expressing myself through the visual power of natural forms. Created by careful observation and subtle abstraction, my work derives imagery from trees, forests and bodies of water. Having spent most of my life in Minnesota, I find these common elements a rich source of imagery. The complex pattern of tree cross-sections, the inherent mystical qualities of forests and atmospheric conditions effects on the environment at different times of the year is the inspiration for my work. My creations are visual variations of landscape elements that metaphorically express the human experience of the natural environment and the transience of life.
