I am a cartoonist from Wisconsin who’s currently based in the Twin Cities. I mull around in any medium I can use for storytelling, tending towards animation and comics. I always try to instil a goofy sense of playfulness in what I draw. I focus on the overall shapes and attitude of drawings, highlighting cartoonish exaggeration in my characters. I work in a style inspired by late 2000’s to early 2010s web-animators (such as Chris O’Neil and Zach Hadel) as well as a handful of cartoons from my childhood, Ed, Edd, n’ Eddy and Chowder being the most influential. My work almost always takes on a comedic tone, having what has been described as a confidence in what it is. It’s goofy and sometimes downright dumb, but that’s just what it is and it doesn’t have to justify existing. A recent work of mine was a four and a half minute animatic for storyboard class, called Brookfield Kids: The Sledding Trip. In this short three siblings, George, Hobbes, and Penelope, all go sledding. Hobbes is dissatisfied with the mundane hill and demands George “helps” him build a much more exciting one. The primary source of the humor stems from the interactions between the three and how their distinct personalities show, with a healthy dose of cartoon slapstick.
